Holly Hobbie Christmas cards and IBSIC #36

This time of year I just don't know what to make first. Do you have that problem? There are so many things I want to be working on—cards, gifts, albums, baking, decorating. And then all these goodies that have arrived with my magazine subscriptions' Christmas issues—oh me oh my! I want to play with them all. This Holly Hobbie paper and stamps are from Cardmaking and Papercrafting, one of my favorites.

I already had the oval cut done on these Holly Hobbie stamped images when I saw this week's IBSIC #36 challenge. Perfect, I thought.

I admit to having a soft spot for Holly Hobbie. I'm going to date myself here, but I had one of the original rag dolls when I was a girl. Oh how I loved that doll!!! I'm so glad a new generation can appreciate her too.

There are two stamps. I went with a pastel, pink theme with one.

And traditional red with the other.

Holly is blonde, but her friend Amy is a brunette. I think this one is Amy.

I was pleased with how these poinsettias turned out. They're Verve stamps that I cut and layered for a 3D effect.

Let's see . . . what do I want to make next?

Materials

Cardmaking and Papercrafting—Holly Hobbie paper, image and sentiment stamps.
Paper—Papermania Festive Frolics, card stock. Dies—Die-namics oval and photo corners, Artemio scalloped oval. Stamps—Verve poinsettia. Embellishments—ribbon, buttons, twine, pink Toga pearls, red Artoz pearls.

  4. Very pretty cards. I had a much loved Holly Hobby dressing gown. It must have been a extravagant expence for my frugal mother as she would rarely let me wear it in case it got dirty and needed a wash, lol. Your colouring of the images is bright and cheerful (not sure what you used) with great attention to detail.

  5. I remember Holly Hobbie! Pretty sure she came out in the 70s, but i never had one of these dolls. These images are so nostalgic, and help make really pretty cards in your hands. :) Those little layered poinsettias are GORGEOUS!

So glad you played along with us at IBS this week. :)
