Hand drawn birthday card with cheery French poppies

It's Poppy Time here in France. The fields and byways are full of them. In 2008 I did the pen and ink drawing that is the topper for this card; it's one of my favorite drawings. Inspired by the beautiful poppies in bloom around me right now, I decided to take it out and use it on a card. This is a first for me, I've never used one of my own drawings on a card, or even posted my drawings here for that matter. Hmmm...maybe I ought to more often, you think?

This field used to be right next door to our home. Alas, it's now gone and apartments have been built there.

Material
Paper—cardstock, decorative papers
Topper—my own drawing
Embellishments—silk ribbon, pearls
Font—Young & Beautiful

Love me some poppies! Whenever someone says "red," these are what comes to mind.

  5. You draw well! This looks like a large stamped image! Poppies are so beautiful.

I remember you had a tip on your blog a while back about how to secure thin book pages to cardstock. Typical tape runner just tears the paper. Can you tell me what your trick was? I cannot recall. Thanks, Shani!

  9. OMG, YOU drew this?? It looks like a stamped image! WOW, I had no idea you could draw. It's gorgeous! And so is the field now sadly gone. I love poppies - they are such a friendly flower. You need to put your drawings on more of your cards. WOW.
