An easy to color digital stamp with impressive results and a button birthday card idea

The perfect digital stamp for beginners – digi sw flower stamp from Little Claire, UK.

This is a card for my mother's birthday. Postal rate calculations have changed in France in 2015 and anything over 3cm in thickness is extremely expensive to mail, not to mention I have to fill out a very long customs form to accompany it. As a consequence, my cards and gifts have gotten flatter. Lucky for me my mother likes a certain type of Swiss chocolate (the brand is Merci in case you're curious) that comes in relatively flat boxes. I can send this chocolate and a card (if I go easy on the embellishments) and still come in at under 3cm. You can see looking at this card, the style is definitely different than my favorite Christmas card from last year.

This card uses the digi sw flower stamp from Little Claire. This is an easy stamp to color and is the perfect digistamp for beginners. You really don't need any shading on this stamp to have impressive results. I shaded a bit on the greenery, but you don't have to.

I debated whether to add the buttons – after I'd colored the stamp it was very pretty without them – but in the end I liked the colorful, homespun look they gave it. I wanted to have the stamp large enough for the buttons, and room enough inside for a personal note to my mother, so I went with an A5 size card, bigger than I normally use. The Happy Birthday sentiment was created with the font Birch Std.

  6. A stunning card Shani. Gorgeous colouring... so bright and cheerful. That's certainly what is needed here at the moment - we hardly even seem to have a day-time recently, it's just so dark all the time. Clare x

  10. I've noticed the pendulum has been swinging back from the heavily adorned cards to CAS cards and I'm sure mail rates are part of the reason. Love your card! Very impressive!

  11. Ha! I'm so lame. I had to look up what CAS meant : )

Shipping from Canada is very expensive too so I feel your pain.

I know I loved those chocolates! I didn't want to share them with my hubby at all! My mouth is watering just thinking about them. Mmmmmm...choc-o-laaates!

    Another gorgeous colourful card.

    bisous
