What to Write Inside a Greeting Card

Do you struggle finding the appropriate words for your card's inside sentiment? If you answered 'yes', then this book – Thinking of You a Card Greeting for Every Occasion – is for you! I bought it during a States visit years ago and it's become a staple in my card making toolbox. I have several internet sites I use for sentiments as well, but this book is by far the best. The sentiments are short – just a few lines – but are so eloquent they give Hallmark a run for its money.

Sometimes I don't want a formal sentiment, I just want to say 'Happy Birthday' and write a brief note in letter form, but other times, when I really don't have much to say/don't know what to say, this book is my go-to source. I looked online and there are both new and used versions available (I saw used ones for under $1.00!).

If you're using a computer generated sentiment:

1. Start a folder called 'SENTIMENTS'.

2. Create your sentiment and save it to the SENTIMENT folder with the name of the person it was for and the year, e.g. BROTHERBD20.jpg. Then next year, when it's time to write your sentiment again, you can simply go to your SENTIMENT folder, look for BROTHERBD20.jpg, and see what you said. 

If you're hand writing your sentiment, snap a photo with your phone after you're done, then:

1. Go to Google Photos (cloud) create a Google Photo Album SENTIMENTS, find your uploaded photo and add to the SENTIMENTS album.

2. In Google Photos, tap on the photo, tap the three little dots in the upper right hand corner, under the photo's date information you see 'Add description...' add a description there, e.g. BROTHERBD20, etc., being sure to use the same format each year.

3. You can then search your photos via the search bar that appears at the top of the screen. Tap the search bar (its default is location search), then where it now says at the top 'Search your photos' enter BROTHERBD20 and you'll see that year's card sentiment. You could also search by BROTHER and then you'll see all photo descriptions beginning with BROTHER. You can always go to the album and look that way, too, but I have yet to discover a way to search within the album itself and text photos on the phone are small. If you're looking at Google Photos on your computer however, they're easier to see.
