Beautiful Swiss Dahlias

I picked up a lovely bouquet of Swiss Dahlias this week. I was so pleased. Dahlias are some of my favorites and the price was very reasonable (CHF 10.00) for locally grown flowers. Since I had a hard time choosing a color – there were so many! – I went with white.

When I was a kid, I liked to lay on my back, look up at the clouds and try and identify everyday objects in the cloud shapes I saw. Did you do that? I wonder if children do that kind of thing anymore. Oh, the simple pleasures. Anyway, I find now that I'm reminded of other things by flowers. I was thinking these dahlias remind me of a Bichon Frise (and who can resist their sweet little faces). Am I right, or what?

Dahlia lovers note – from August 10 to October 31 the free Morges, Switzerland Lakeside Dahlia exhibition is in full bloom along the quay of Lake Geneva. There are hundreds of different dahlia types in bloom. It's a wonderful way to get a little exercise and check out the amazing flowers.

  2. The dahlia's are pretty. They do look like snowballs, puffs of clouds, and bichon frise! Enjoy!

  3. Gorgeous flowers! I still do look at the clouds to see what shapes they are. Other day I saw a snowman vacuuming. Wow, that Dahlia exhibition sounds amazing!
