September Digi Stamp Diva – Scribbles Designs

September's digi stamp divas are Canadians Sandy Sommerfeld, owner/artist and Lisa Decosse, Content Developer & Blog Coordinator, the driving forces behind Scribbles Designs

Sandy Sommerfeld and Lisa Decosse

I asked Sandy to tell me about Scribbles Designs and her creative process.

1) Tell me a little about Scribbles Designs digital stamps. Are you the principal artist? How/when/why did you begin designing digital stamps?

'I am the principal artist. We have showcased a few team members with their images or digital paper designs.  I've been drawing since I was knee high to a grasshopper... and have always loved doodling. Not always do I get much time, but I do try. Scribbles Designs started with Brrr (penguin) and Scardy Cat then and other characters morphed from there or from my collection of doodles. Starting into the world of digital images has been a great way to share my doodles with everyone.'

2) Where do you get your inspiration?  'Everything around me. My husband, our dog, our trips. We also live in a four season playground and there is so much to "draw" from.'

3) What medium do you use for your illustrations? Do you do a pencil sketch first? Do you use a digital drawing pad? 'I usually sketch an idea out... then pigma pen for more or less detail. Then the image is scanned, then I complete the digital drawing on my bamboo drawing tablet. Finalizing the image, prepped to be uploaded to the store blog.'

4) Where do you create? Do you have a dedicated studio, or creative space in your home? 'I have my own area, one of our spare (bed)rooms, that has become my studio. I easily have a dozen different projects on the go... my window overlooks the nature in our yard.'

5) Do you colour your own stamps? If yes, what medium do you use? Do you send out your own cards or do scrapbooking? Do you do other crafts? If so which ones?  'Yes when I have time. Primarily copics. I try to make my own cards. Although I LOVE paper and paper arts, I don't do scrapbooking. I am a lettering artist and calligrapher. Watercolour artist. Paper collector. Tangle art. Some jewelry.  Lots of wooden signs, t-shirts (heat vinyl)...'

6) Feel free to add anything else about Scribbles Designs digital stamps you’d like to share with readers. 'Check out our challenge blog where you can see our design team's work!'

Thank you so much, Sandy!

Next up is Lisa, who filled me in on the Scribbles Challenge Blog:

'Along with the store, Scribbles Designs also has a challenge blog with a full time team and a part time team. Our monthly themed challenges start on the 15th of each month. Participants can enter our challenge using any company image they'd like. If a person happens to use a Scribbles Designs image on their project their entry will count as two and they also have the chance to be chosen as a Standout Scribbler. We also offer a freebie during each of our challenges and additional Flash Freebies every once in awhile throughout the year. Right now there are over 200 freebies available in the store. One can access them simply by clicking on the store link and clicking on 'Free' in the category section in the sidebar. There are also other special events with extra prizes and freebies that crop up throughout the year as well.

We provide inspiration at the start (15th of the month) and midway (1st of the month) of each of our challenges. Additionally, on the 23rd of each month we have our Scribbler's Showcase where we feature the projects that our inspiration team has created, along with any extra creations our full time team members or guests may have had the chance to create during the previous four weeks.

Finally, we also have a Customer Gallery. For every 15 projects linked up using a Scribbles Designs Image, a winner will be chosen at random to receive $5 worth of images. You can find out all the details for how to enter a project into the Gallery by clicking HERE.

Scribbles Designs is currently looking for new blood for both the full and part time teams. If this is something that interests you, please contact me (Lisa Décosse). Send a message to decossesdynamitedoodles@yahoo.ca, with the subject heading, "Scribbles Designs Team Interest". Be sure to let me know your name and provide your blog address as well and I'll get in touch with you.'
