Carte de Noël escargot – Christmas Snail card

Carte de Noël escargot – Christmas Snail card, featuring QKR Stampede Santa Snail digital stamp, by Paperesse.

My quest for humorous Christmas card greetings in French continues. Today's attempt features QKR Stampede's Santa Snail digital stamp. I thought this was very appropriate for a Christmas card as we're very particular about our snails over here, and though we eat them all year round, they are a favorite at Christmas, especially with a garlic and parsley butter sauce – delicious! But back to the card...

My sentiment, which I created with Candy Round BTN font translates in English to, 'Quick! Soon it's Christmas!'. You get it right? A slowwwwww moving snail saying 'Quick!'? However, when I showed it to my husband, I had to explain my reasoning a bit, which kind of irked me because I thought I was being oh so clever. Phffff...

Patterned paper is Bo Bunny Silver & Gold paper pack. I received this pack as a magazine freebie long ago and even though I've made a few cards with it already (like this Light Bulb Christmas card) I still have quite a bit left; I feel so thrifty every time I use it. Embellishment is a simple wooden star on a banner die-cut.

Supply List
Paper – cardstock, ribbed paper, Bo Bunny Silver & Gold paper pack
Digital stamp – QKR Santa Snail
Color – Caran d'Ache Luminance 6901 pencils
Dies – Die-Namics square stax and banner die, no-brand stitched postage stamp die
Embellishment – wooden star
Font – Candy Round BTN

  1. Hey, me and my Grade 9 French from eons ago even got the joke and it made me smile.....so....maybe it's not the joke but the husband. (:

Wonderful card, Shani! I especially love the corrugated paper and the wooden star. Such lovely touches! That snail is fantastic....don't eat it, 'kay? lmao

  4. I like that textured bg for the image. No explanation necessary for the joke! Thanks for coming to the QKR Stampede weekly Anything Goes challenge. Dorothy S, DT member

  5. LOL! Got it! The snail image is absolutely wonderful - funny in itself! I love the 'supporting actors' you chose to use with him... the layout in general with three different papers, each with mats and then pulling the paper at the bottom to the top in that banner ties it all together! And then mounting him on that corrugated mat tied to the image by coloring the shell to match - very creative my friend! You must have worked a long time to get the perfection in his shell - the highlights and contrasts are amazing! Well done Shani - a great card!
