A special card for a special someone's 40th birthday & World Card Making Day

Today is World Cardmaking Day and in honor of this event I'm sharing a card I made for a dear friend of mine. She requested a special card for her daughter's 40th birthday. That's a milestone birthday that deserves something special, something that stands out, something that is worth the extra postage it costs to mail it. I came up with this.

I've had this flower a while now, just waiting for the right moment. I couldn't use it on just any ole' card. There's some special vintage paper here too, the cover from some old sheet music that had just the right patina to match the flower.

In lieu of an envelope, I gave my friend a box and some bubble wrap to mail it in.

Material

Stamps—Inspired by Stamping Butterfly Wings "Birthday Girl"
Ink—Versafine black
Paper—Teresa Collins Fabrications, Mahé Cassis, MME, vintage paper
Dies—Die-namics scroll and corner, Kesi Art doily, Artemio tag
Embellishments—flower, pearls

  1. This is STUNNING, Shani! That flower is gorgeous and must have been hard to let go of. I'm looking at it and getting inspired to learn how to make something similar because it's THAT gorgeous. You've incorporated it into the card beautifully with the complement of the perfect music paper.
