Going Away Card based on Card Patterns Sketch 169

A friend asked if I would do a card for her office for a male colleague who has received a promotion and will be moving away to another location. She had specific requests for the sentiment of the card. She wanted her colleague's name on the front, as well as that of her team who was giving the card. The true sentiment of the card – congratulations, we'll miss you, bon voyage – is on the inside of the card. She wanted it to be a keepsake card for him. Also, the card needed to be bigger to have room for the office to sign.

I hadn't done one like this before so I wondered how I could incorporate the names into the design. I was still pondering this when I looked at this week's Card Patterns Sketch 169. The light bulb clicked on and I thought that's it!

I decided to curve the lettering of the names. I think that works well in this design. Also, this is an international organization so Toga's stamp of the world fits very nicely into the theme of their work. It's an A5 size card so it's large and with it's several layers of paper it's definitely a sturdy, keepsake quality card.

Material
Papers – Bo Bunny Etcetera Stamped, Mahé Lin, Graphic 45 Paradise Postage and Tiki Voyager, Alyssiane Bricabois Marron. Other – ribbon by Rayher, Alyssiane button, Toga world stamp, Aladine stitching stamp, Artemio dies. Distress ink in walnut stain and old paper.
