Non-traditional Valentine's Day card in orange and black

Non-traditional Valentine's Day card, using Sweet 'n' Sassy digital stamp, design by Paperesse.

I like Valentine's Day and not just for the chocolate, although that is a point in its favor. Valentine's Day to me is a way to show those we love we care about them, not just our sweethearts and husbands. This card is going to my cousin back in the States. It's a combination Valentine's Day/Thank You card, as inside I've thanked him again for his Christmas gifts and wished him a Happy Valentine's Day.

This is the nicest thing about a home made card – you can personalize it as you wish. I doubt seriously I'd have found a Valentine's Day/Thank You card in the shops.

This isn't a romantic Valentine's Day card – I didn't want anything too mushy – so I chose these non-traditional colors and focal digistamp, paper piecing the stamp instead of coloring it. I did add an orange heart and orange heart ribbon though, for a little Valentine's touch. Instead of using the sentiment that came with the stamp, I instead rounded my own sentiment using Candy Round BTN font along a curving text path in CraftArtist, as I've done on this Tropical Santa and Penguin cards (the Penguin card has more info on how to do this).

Supply List
Paper – cardstock, Tactile Studio Ashley digital paper pack
Digital stamp – Sweet 'n' Sassy Orange You Sweet
Dies – Die-namics circle stax, Artemio scallopped circle die
Embellishments – wooden heart, button, twine, ribbon
Font – Candy Round BTN

  1. LOL! Love that sentiment - and no matter the subject or image - you ALWAYS finish your cards so beautifully! I really like the cord tied in a bow thru the button on the heart! I guess that is what I really like with this project - the layers and the tiny details. Nice Shani!

  3. I like the sentiment : ) I agree, Valentine's needn't always be about lovers. It is nice to show those around you that you care.
