Practicing Creativity

"Steal Like an Artist" by Austin Kleon – what a great book!

I admit, the title of this book is what caught my eye (as it was intended to I'm sure). I flipped it over to see what it was about, checked out the price andas it wasn't too muchdecided to buy it. And I'm so glad I did! It's a quick and simple read that will make you look at your own creative process in a new way. It raises some interesting questions about creativity and our sources of learning. How can we learn except by copying others? That's always been the way of it. Throughout history students have studied and copied the masters that came before them, in order to become masters themselves. They didn't think they were stealing, or violating copyright, they were learning.

There aren't any fancy photos, no detailed tutorials, just good ole' advice to get the creative juices flowingno matter your particular creative pursuits.
