What's the best way to store coloring pencils?

It's been a little over a year now  since I started using alcohol markers to color my digistamps. Before that, I used pencils – Caran d'Ache Luminance 6901 pencils to be exact – and although I don't use the pencils as much as before, I do still use them, mainly to add shadow and detail to my marker projects. The problem is I don't have enough room on my desk for my markers and my pencils so I've been keeping my pencils in a desk drawer that I open to access as I'm coloring, but with 77 pencils stored in 3 different metal pencil boxes,  I can't easily get to them all.  In addition, they are constantly sliding around in the boxes and not staying in the order I like.

I did a bit of searching and found this pencil case on Amazon. French Amazon gives the brand name as Sumnacon 120 PU cuir trousse de crayon, while the USA site calls it Youshares 120 Slot Pencil Case. I can't say for certain the USA brand is exactly the same as the French one, but it looks the same (and let's face it, we all know they're being made in the same place). I'm not giving a link, as I don't think Amazon needs my help in selling anything, but if you care to search for it, I'm sure you can find it. It's really more this type of case I'm impressed with. It fits in my drawer, has space for all my pencils, they stay put and I can easily turn the case's pages to find the color I want. The video below shows it in use (that French yelling you hear in the background is my husband watching a soccer match...phfff).

I would really have enjoyed this when I was using my pencils all the time.

  1. What an awesome case! I definitely could use something like that. My pencils are stored on my desk top in three mason jars. Not the most exciting or pretty containers, but they get the job done. (:
