I've had the Meljen's Designs Kimono Bear digital stamp (retired) used on this birthday card for years and have just never got around to using it. I've had it so long it dates back to when Melissa Jenkins had her own website. The good news is if you like Melissa's digis (and she has some very cute ones) you can now find her at Whimsey Stamps. Some of my Meljen's favorites are still available, like the Beach Kitten digi on this past summer birthday card.
This card was for a friend of mine who enjoys Japanese culture and specifically kimonos; she even recently attended a class on that very subject. Unfortunately, it appears the card was lost by the French Poste and she never received it. I mailed it from the post office right around the corner from her apartment, not like it had to go too far. Phfff. When you buy a card and it gets lost you're like 'Meh, happens.' But when you've made a card, spent all that time and energy creating it, and it gets lost, then dang, you're really pissed. Not to mention the wasted €2.97 (apx $3.45) I spent on the stamp. Postage prices have really just gone through the roof, but that's a rant for another day.
Papers are Craft Universe. The sentiment was created with Monterey BT font. I dressed it up with a generic border die and some matt enamel dots.
Paper – cardstock, Craft Universe paper pads
Digital stamp – Meljen's Designs Kimono Bear
Dies – Die-namics rectangle stax, generic border
Embellishment –matt enamel dots
Font – Monterey BT
Caran d'Ache Luminance 6901 pencils
Gelly Roll .08 white pen
Winsor & Newton .05 black fine line pen

So adorable and remember Meljens Designs really well, I won a rubber stamp once, and this little cutie is so fun, gorgeous card..

ReplyDeleteOh goodness! I am having such a difficult time posting on your blog as huge chunk seem to go missing. Hopefully, the third time is a charm! So sorry about this.
ReplyDeleteYour card really is (was) a gorgeous one! I love your take on the challenge, using a bear in a kimono.
How disappointing that the card is lost! I am currently in the UK, and this was in the news yesterday:
Little Red Wagon this week! I’m so glad that you linked your project!

ReplyDeleteI'd be upset, too, Shani! What really got me was "right around the corner!" Thank goodness you have a photo of this delightful card made personally for your friend. The bear lady in her kimono is adorable and I love how you framed her! Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteWow, what a beautiful card! And great colouring of the very cute image.
ReplyDeleteWonderful card, Shani! I bet your friend would have loved it! Yeah, the post....don't get me started. (;
ReplyDeleteShani, she is darling! I love the papers and of course your coloring. Such a shame that she is roaming France, maybe she will eventually make it to her new home. Gonna have to take a look at my Meljen's digis, I always loved them but haven't pulled any out in a long time. Thanks for the inspiration.
