Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #6—Sketch Challenge...with a twist

It's my second bi-weekly challenge as part of Craft Hoarder's Anonymous challenge blog's April Guest Design Team. The #6 challenge is to create a project based on this sketch.

Use the sketch to inspire your creation. Modify as needed to design a card, layout, canvas, book cover, etc. (I turned it horizontally). Ah, but there is a twist! Rummage around in your stash and find at least one item that is old and one item that is new and use them both on your project, demonstrating how you combine older items with new ones.

This card is a good blend of old (very, very old) and new. The vintage sheet music on the right is old, as is this stunning image of a Victorian era lady in her gorgeous hat. This image comes from one of my favorite books in my ephemera collection, the March 29, 1891 issue of La Mode Illustrée Journal de La Famille (now that's old, huh?!). I scanned the image, repaired the nasty streak that ran right through her face, and printed it on vintage blank paper.

The other papers underneath my lovely lady are new, docrafts Papermania Madame Payraud 6 x 6 paper pack. I was lucky to find this paper at the one small store who sells scrapbooking supplies in my area (the one and only, I might add). It was the last one they had. The Florilèges coffee cup stain stamp is old; I've had it forever and this is the first time I've used it.

Also new are the Papermania Tall Urban Stamps Mini Typewriter Alphabet I used for the joy letters. I matted them in black and used 4mm 3D pads to make them really stand out. The crochet ribbon is older, as is the striped ribbon and twine in the button. The button is vintage from my collection.

The inside sentiment—created with Craft Artist software and font Edwardian Script ITC—is from Thinking of You a Card Greeting for Every Occasion by Hinkler books.

Come on over and play along (and don't forget there's an awesome prize up for grabs)!

Tote ONLY—product is NOT included.
