Why write? Penmanship for the 21st Century – Jake Weidmann on the importance of handwriting

If you are a regular visitor to Paperesse, you might have noticed I feel very strongly about the importance of cursive handwriting in our society (this post pretty much sums up my thoughts on the subject). One of my crafting buddies, Ginny, at Rubbermad, knows this and sent me a link to the Ted talk by the artist and calligrapher, Jake Weidmann. It was a pleasure for me to hear someone so eloquently express what I believe so deeply. It's a very interesting talk and the examples shown of his art incorporating lettering are breathtaking. If you feel strongly that cursive handwriting is a valuable skill that deserves to be taught in our schools, I urge you to watch this video. You will not be bored, believe me.

And a big 'Merci beaucoup!' once more to Ginny, for bringing this to my attention.

  3. I, too, feel strongly about cursive writing. What a shame schools are doing away with so many basics. Thanks for the video link.
